How to Make Fries in Sell Fries! [Anomaly]: Peel, Cook, Collect

Make fries in Sell Fries! [Anomaly]: take a potato from the pile, peel it, cook it at the fryer, and collect the finished fries when they're ready.

Every order in Sell Fries! [Anomaly] runs on the same chain the game's own description spells out: collect potatoes from the pile, make fries, serve customers. This page covers the middle link — turning one gathered potato into finished fries you can hand over. The whole conversion is four interactions:

  1. Take a potato from the pile.
  2. Finish the peeling stage on the potato you're holding.
  3. Cook the peeled potato at the cooking station, using the station's interaction prompt (E on PC).
  4. Collect the finished fries. Once you've picked them up, the fries are made — delivering them is the separate serving step.

What you need before you cook

One potato, already gathered. Grab it from a pile and your character carries it in hand — one narrated run points out your hand is full while holding it, so you're moving exactly one potato through the stations at a time on the basic loop. Where the piles are, which potatoes hide inside them, and which special colors sell for more are covered in the potato collection guide.

No purchases are required. Every tool in the shop only speeds this route up — more on that below.

The four steps in detail

1. Take a potato from the pile

Walk up to a pile and take one potato. This is step one of the walkthrough's complete sale: collect, peel, cook, collect the fries, serve.

2. Finish the peeling stage

The held potato has to be peeled before it can cook. The instruction is simply to finish the peeling stage — and in one narrated run the player checks the peel partway through, sees it isn't at 100 yet, and stays on it until the stage completes. Take that as the working rule: stay at the peeler until the peeling is actually done before carrying the potato on. No exact peeling duration is documented, so don't rush off on a timer that doesn't exist.

3. Cook the peeled potato at the cooking station

Carry the peeled potato to the cooking station and start cooking with the prompt the station shows. The creator tutorial presses E on PC; the general rule is to use your device's visible interaction prompt, so on touch or a controller, whatever button the station displays is the one to press. If an update ever moves a prompt, the station's own on-screen label is the thing to trust.

4. Collect the finished fries

Cooking ends with fries you can pick up — the documented cook step is literally "cook, then collect the finished fries." Taking the batch out of the fryer is the moment the fries are made, and fries collect as a batch: another guide notes that frying more fries lets you collect a bigger batch to sell to customers.

How you know the fries are ready

Two signals, one at each end of the handoff:

  • At the fryer: the finished fries become collectable via the station's prompt. That pickup is the ready state — no exact cook duration is documented, so the collectable batch is the reliable signal, not a clock.
  • At the customer: the delivery has to fit inside the customer's waiting time. One narrated run cooks, mentions roughly 50 seconds before the customer leaves, then hands the fries over — treat that as an approximate figure from a single run, not a confirmed timer. A second guide turns the window into a tactic: if a customer's waiting time is still long, use the opportunity to cook more fries and collect as many as you can.

In short: fries are ready to serve once they can be collected from the fryer while a customer's waiting time is still running.

Tools change the speed, not the route

Nothing you buy replaces the take → peel → cook → collect chain; purchases only make it faster or bigger:

  • A bigger potato peeler and a bucket are recommended early buys that make the process easier.
  • The upgrade that increases the peeling amount lets you peel more potatoes at once.
  • The potato peeling machine exists so you no longer have to peel by hand — by-hand peeling is the default it replaces.
  • The automatic fryer makes the whole cooking process much easier.
  • Late-game, the fries shooter serves waiting customers automatically so you no longer hand fries over manually — which confirms the baseline is a manual hand-over.

If you're deciding what to buy first, the best kitchen upgrades guide ranks them.

Next: the handoff

Your fries are made the moment you collect them from the fryer. What remains — walking them to the customer and getting paid — is the serving step, and it has its own guide to serving customers. For how this preparation loop fits into a full day of shopkeeping, see the full Sell Fries walkthrough.
